Indie garage-punk masters St. Morris Sinners have unleashed a gritty, compelling and engaging LP in Songs About Insects.
Throughout its eight tunes, the album uses soaring guitar leads and unpredictable, aggressive vocal turns to give each song its own unique tone; tune Praying Mantis Sally a standout track that sums up the release nicely.
“The album’s overriding theme is centred around insects - how people can be related to insects, in similarities such as characteristics, appearance and behaviour,” the band said.
“The simple fact is, insects are such interesting and diverse creatures in the animal kingdom. You always hear and see humanity constantly try to humanise dogs and cats, how come we never try to empathise or understand the ant or weevil?”

Tenor saxophonist Jamie Capatch makes a guest appearance as well as cellist Dave Moran – who appeared on the band’s 2013 self-titled EP and debut album, For Lease, in 2014, while Bianca Carbone provides vocals during closer She’s Like Fireflies.
Songs About Insects gets a hometown launch next Sat, 19 Nov, at Jive after St. Morris Sinners open for The Monkeywrench at Crown & Anchor on 17 Nov.
