English jazz-funk icons Level 42 are heading to Australia in January 2027, today announcing their first-ever tour Down Under.

Following their formation in 1979, the group racked up numerous chart hits during the 1980s and 1990s, making an impact both in their native UK and across the globe, such as Lessons in Love and Something About You.

The band disbanded in 1994 before reuniting in 2001. While their most recent studio album, Retroglide, was released in 2006, Level 42 have since released an abundance of live albums, box sets, compilation albums, and an EP.

Next year, though, Level 42 will be celebrating their incredible legacy, performing their 1985 album, World Machine, in its entirety, alongside a set of their Greatest Hits.

World Machine is one of the band’s most revered achievements, blending jazz-funk precision, pop sensibility, and astounding ambition to catapult Level 42 to the global stage. It remains a benchmark of the era and of the band’s discography.

As for the Greatest Hits part of the evening, fans will hear classics including Lessons in Love, Something About You, Running in the Family, Hot Water, and Love Games, among others.

The band’s first-ever Australian tour begins at Perth’s Astor Theatre on Monday, 18 January. It continues at Adelaide’s The Gov on Thursday, 21 January, Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Friday, 22 January, and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Sunday, 24 January. It concludes at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Wednesday, 27 January.

Pre-sale tickets will be available on Wednesday, 1 July, at 9 am local time – register here for access to the pre-sale – followed by the general sale on Friday, 3 July, at 9 am local time. You can find more ticketing information via the Destroy All Lines website.

Following their Australian shows, Level 42 are scheduled to head over to New Zealand and perform two festival shows.
