Power 50: Celebrating The Australian Music Industry's Power Players
The Music’s Power 50 is an annual celebration of leadership and Australian music impact for the year. With its foundation year in 2012, the list was originally published in the Australasian Music Industry Directory (AMID), shifting to The Music’s print edition in 2017. The list explored the most powerful players in the Australian music sector. After a COVID hiatus, the list returned in 2025 to continue its legacy of celebrating the people behind the hits.
The list currently takes into consideration five broad industry sectors to ensure a reflection of the entire Australian ecosystem. Inclusion on the list is more than just a celebration of the past year, however. It’s also a signpost for the next.
The Power 50 are the people who are shaping the future of Australian music, both globally and locally. They are the people the industry looks to when it comes to healthy culture and protection of artists’ rights. They are the people who will determine whether Australians continue to hear their own songs and stories reflected back to them. The Power 50 is a celebration of the success that has been carved out and a reminder of the responsibility to use that success to create more doors for Australian artists to walk through.
