New Music Industry Program Access Australian Artists (AAA) Launches

Fans will be able to discover and communicate directly with their favourite artists on Access Australian Artists, bypassing social media algorithms.

More than 1,000 Australian artists have teamed up with the Melbourne-based music technology company Greenroom360 to launch the new program, Access Australian Artists (AAA).

The new initiative launches this Ausmusic Month. Over 1,000 Aussie creatives already have artist pages to share music, videos, news, and tour dates, automatically sourced from platforms such as Spotify, YouTube, and trusted music media outlets.

From there, fans can discover their new favourite artists, request other acts to be added, and create a personalised feed that only features updates from their favourite artists – it’s like the good old days of MySpace. Musicians will have the ability to directly communicate with their fans without navigating social media algorithms, directly reaching punters with posts and push notifications.

Additionally, the Greenroom Shop lets artists create and sell merch on demand, as well as products and content subscriptions.

Leigh Treweek, founder of Handshake Management and a music industry veteran, has worked closely on developing AAA. “As an artist manager, my passion has always been building lifelong careers for my artists,” Treweek said.

“The relationship between artist and fan is key to that. A free platform built exclusively for artists and fans is game-changing, especially when artists own their data and can talk directly to their fans. AAA backs Australian artists when they need it most, and I can’t wait to watch it grow.”

To celebrate its launch during Ausmusic Month, the new initiative is introducing Bring Your AAA Game. The competition gives fans the chance to win tickets to 30 gigs over 30 days this month; enter here and read the Terms & Conditions here.

Australian hip-hop artist L-FRESH The Lion said of the launch of AAA, “As artists, it’s absurd to think that we can have thousands or even millions of followers on social media, yet algorithms dictate how many of them see our new song or show announcements when we post about them.”

He continued, “Social media platforms use us and our work to grow their audiences and keep people on their platforms, yet it’s becoming harder for artists to build sustainable careers. I’m looking forward to seeing AAA enter the space, where a follow means a follow from a fan who genuinely wants to see and hear from you.

“And where fans don’t feel robbed of the opportunity to discover an artist’s new song or tour announcement simply because they missed a post.”

Emerging country artist Eli Fahey added, “As an independent artist releasing music, building an audience is difficult. Having platforms like this gives me another avenue to be seen and heard, which is what it is all about for me.”
