British publication Rock Sound is reviving the now iconic Punk Goes Pop collection, but with an album they’ve called Pop Sound.
“Rock Sound Presents: Pop Sound, Vol.1,” the publication shared on social media, noting that a “special edition magazine and album” will go on sale today (2 July), from 5 pm BST – that’s Friday at 2 am AEST.
In a teaser shared on social media, Rock Sound revealed that songs covered on the album include Billie Eilish’s What Was I Made For, Sabrina Carpenter’s Please Please Please, Olivia Dean’s Man I Need, KPop Demon Hunters’ Golden, Kesha’s Your Love Is My Drug, Justin Timberlake’s Sexyback, and more.
Of course, the publication didn’t announce which bands are involved in the album, leaving it a surprise for when Pop Sound drops. However, that hasn’t stopped followers from speculating about which bands could be involved in the project.
Names such as Pierce the Veil, DeathbyRomy, and South Arcade are among the bands mentioned in the publication’s comment sections on Facebook and Instagram.

From 2000 to 2019, Fearless Records released 19 albums in the Punk Goes… compilation series. The albums included Punk Goes Metal, Punk Goes Pop, Punk Goes Crunk, Punk Goes Christmas, and decades-themed collections, such as Punk Goes 80’s and 90’s.
Whether it was The Amity Affliction covering The Weeknd, or August Burns Red covering Miley Cyrus, Mayday Parade and Pierce The Veil’s Vic Fuentes covering Somebody That I Used to Know, Memphis May Fire covering Bruno Mars, or Tonight Alive covering Mumford & Sons’ Little Lion Man, the Punk Goes… series became beloved by a generation of Millennial music fans who are likely to eat up whatever Pop Sound contains now.
