The Jungle GiantsThe Triffid’s annual celebration of Queensland music, the Album of the Year, returns in 2026, and voting is now open.
This year’s nominees are as eclectic as ever, with artists spanning punk rock, pop, dance music, and more. The voting shortlist features Radium Dolls with Wound Up, The Jungle Giants’ Experiencing Feelings of Joy, Platonic Sex’s Face to the Flywire, Clea’s Every Version of Love, 2charm’s star scum city, and Tom Busby’s Rockhampton Hangover.

Voting is open from today until Friday, 6 November. The Queensland Album of the Year event takes place on Thursday, 12 November, at The Triffid.
The winning artist will receive a raft of impressive prizes, including a career development prize that features a content campaign from The Music, valued at $3,850. Other prizes include a radio promotional package from 4ZZZ, valued at $1,800, and an eight-hour production day at The Triffid, where they’ll be joined by an audio technician.
Fans who vote for their favourite acts and meet the entry conditions for a competition will also win exciting prizes.
Starting with the major prize, which comprises a double pass to Spilt Milk, other prizes include a double pass to any event held at The Triffid within the next 12 months, one of five food and drink vouchers to spend at The Triffid valued at $30 each, and one of ten double passes to attend the Album of the Year event.
The Triffid’s Queensland Album of the Year award has gone to artists including Busby Marou, Cub Sport, Tia Gostelow, The Chats, Beddy Rays, and more, with Full Flower Moon Band taking home last year’s honour for their third album, Megaflower.
John “JC” Collins, Founder of The Triffid and Director of Client & Stakeholder Engagement (Venues) for Live Nation, said of the return of this year’s Album of the Year award, “Queensland keeps punching above its weight when it comes to music.
“Every year there are incredible records being made here, and our Album of the Year initiative gives us a chance to celebrate that and put the spotlight back on the artists.”
JC continued, “The Triffid has always been about supporting local music and giving artists a place to play, grow and connect with audiences. What makes this award particularly special is that the fans decide it. They’re the ones buying the records, going to the shows and backing these artists, so we want them to get involved and have their say.”
Full Flower Moon Band’s Kate “Babyshakes” Dillon added, “Brisbane is the city that made us, so having ‘Megaflower’ voted Queensland Album of the Year was very special. We made some big creative swings on that album - so when everyone got behind it so enthusiastically, it meant a lot.
“There’s always great music being made in Queensland, and we’re always honoured to be recognised as a part of it. Thanks again to everyone who voted for us last year and got Megaflower up on The Triffid’s Hero Wall. We are sad our beautiful album art has to come down - but now it’s someone else’s turn.”
