Snoop DoggWhen Snoop Dogg headlined last year’s AFL Grand Final pre-game entertainment performance, it’s unlikely that fans expected him to leave Melbourne’s CBD.
But that’s exactly what he did when he pulled into the western suburb of Werribee South last September and visited the students at the Warringa Park School—a special needs school. While he was there, Snoop Dogg recorded a catchy single with the kids, which was officially released last week.
Now, months later, Snoop Dogg has fulfilled a promise he made to the students and gifted the school with new microphones, stands and speakers, 7 News reports.
“It was an incredible moment which really was about student voice… they really felt valued and heard,” School Principal Ashwini Sharma said, per The New Daily.
“When it arrived, we saw that same excitement and joy.”

Snoop Dogg visited Warringa Park School last year after the students put together a social media campaign to get him to collaborate with them. And it worked.
“Well, this just happened!” the school began on an Instagram post last September.
The team continued, “Earlier this year, our students dreamed big and nominated the artists they would love to collaborate with. At the top of the list was none other than @snoopdogg.
“When we heard Snoop was coming to Melbourne for the @afl Grand Final, our students started a campaign to invite him to our classroom studio. What began as a long-shot Instagram post turned into something unforgettable — that dream came true.”
“Snoop arrived at our Werribee South campus, joined our students in the studio, and recorded vocals for their track. He even took time to write his own lyrics, record in one take, and celebrate with our school community.”
The post concluded, “This incredible opportunity was made possible through the support of our principal Ashwini, the Department of Education, our dedicated families and staff, and of course, Snoop and his wonderful team. Big thank you our amazing music teacher Ben and Nick for his ongoing support.
“Most of all, we congratulate our amazing students, whose hard work, creativity, and passion turned a dream into reality. This is an experience we will all remember forever.”
Bringing “top dog mentality”, Snoop Dogg kicked off the AFL Grand Final pre-game entertainment show with The Next Episode, strutting onto the field alongside a matching band to a stage where Tash Sultana was shredding.
Nuthin' But A "G" Thang and Drop It Like It's Hot were up next, with dancers featured on the impressive stage alongside the rapper, before pyro was unleashed for Down 4 My N’s. Sultana took the spotlight again in Sweat.
The performance also saw Jessica Mauboy join the show for Beautiful and Baker Boy play yidaki on Still D.R.E. Other songs on the setlist included Signs, Gin And Juice and closer Who Am I (What’s My Name)?.
