In between headlining the AFL Grand Final pre-game entertainment and being confused for his doppelganger, Snoop Dogg made kids’ dreams come true on his recent visit to Melbourne.

Last week, the Gin And Juice rapper visited the Warringa Park School campus in Werribee South. A school for teens who have a diagnosed intellectual disability, Warringa Park offers an alternative vocational program to prepare students for post-school options, including school-based cafes, travel education, workplace apprenticeships, TAFE, volunteering, and more.

The Warringa Park School team shared the news that Snoop Dogg not only visited the school, but he also wrote his own lyrics and recorded a track with the students.

“Well, this just happened!” the school began with their post on Saturday (27 September).

The team continued, “Earlier this year, our students dreamed big and nominated the artists they would love to collaborate with. At the top of the list was none other than @snoopdogg.

“When we heard Snoop was coming to Melbourne for the @afl Grand Final, our students started a campaign to invite him to our classroom studio. What began as a long-shot Instagram post turned into something unforgettable — that dream came true.”

“Snoop arrived at our Werribee South campus, joined our students in the studio, and recorded vocals for their track. He even took time to write his own lyrics, record in one take, and celebrate with our school community.”

The post concluded, “This incredible opportunity was made possible through the support of our principal Ashwini [Sharma], the Department of Education, our dedicated families and staff, and of course, Snoop and his wonderful team. Big thank you our amazing music teacher Ben and Nick for his ongoing support.

“Most of all, we congratulate our amazing students, whose hard work, creativity, and passion turned a dream into reality. This is an experience we will all remember forever.”

Upon the AFL confirming his performance at this year’s Grand Final, Snoop Dogg said, “It’s an absolute honour to be hitting the stage at the AFL Grand Final — it’s one of the biggest events on the Aussie calendar. Can’t wait to bring the energy and celebrate with the fans. Let’s make it unforgettable.”

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon added, “Snoop Dogg is a pioneer, a performer, and a true entertainer. He’s played to packed stadiums around the world — but we think 100,000 fans at the MCG might just be his most iconic crowd yet.”
