Everything is coming up MUDRAT, it seems. We’re not yet a quarter of the way through the year and already 2025 is shaping up to be a big one for the Naarm punk/hip hop artist.

The latest feather to be added to his already-decorated cap is the release of new single Last Night, a typically-ferocious piece of explosive music which blends those rock and hip hop influences, and positions it perfectly for fans of acts such as Bob Vylan, Idles, or Genesis Owusu.

“I attended Uni Melb straight out of high school and flunked every class for two years, but I did take a creative writing class that focused on the importance of showing over telling,” MUDRAT wrote on social media ahead of the track’s release. “I believe in trying to influence people to grow through art, we need to showcase the journey required.

“This song is the opening track to our debut project Social Cohesion dropping later this year and marks the beginning point of most non politically activated people on this land – apathy.”

While the new tune is set to feature on the forthcoming project from MUDRAT at some point later this year, it’s the latest in an impressive series of achievements for the fast-rising act.

In addition to its release occurring directly after a Melbourne support slot for none other than Denzel Curry, it also comes shortly after MUDRAT announced his signing to Select Music Booking Agency in late January.

That too came only a matter of weeks after the release of December’s YEAR OF THE RAT, another piece of incendiary music which helped to cement MUDRAT’s status as one of the names you need to be paying attention to in 2025 – something which was confirmed by his inclusion in in NME’s list of the 100 Essential Emerging Artists Of 2025.

He’s also recently performed at Melbourne’s St Kilda Festival, and on April 3rd, MUDRAT will be taking over The Hollywood Hotel in Sydney for a free event as part of the Great Southern Nights lineup.
