Chiodos have made Thomas Erak an official member, announcing the addition of the guitarist via an official video.

At The Gates and The Haunted guitarist Anders Björler has announced renowned Swedish session musician Morgan Ågren will play drums on his upcoming solo album, The Antikythera Mechanism. As well as playing drums for Swedish progressive rock band Kaipa, fans of extreme metal may recognise Morgan Ågren for his performance on Meshuggah guitarist Fredrik Thordendal’s solo album, Sol Niger Within. Ågren is the first session musician enlisted by Björler to contribute to the album, which is due out later this year.

Machine Head frontman Robert Flynn says the band will begin writing the follow-up to 2011’s Unto The Locust this week.
