Queensland two-piece Hollow Coves have reflected on the “weird place” that is the internet after receiving a flood of traffic following Kim Kardashian’s promotion of their music.

The duo – comprising Ryan Henderson and Matt Carins – were formed in Brisbane back in 2013 and have spent the past 13 years carving out a respectable discography featuring two full-length albums and a handful of EPs.

Their most recent EP, 2021's Blessings, has now scored itself a strong boost in streams after Kardashian used the song in one of her recent Instagram Stories.

Shared to her 344 million followers on social media earlier this week, the post saw Kardashian (the eighth most-followed celebrity on the platform) posting an image in which she tagged sisters Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, alongside half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Soundtracking the post was none other than Hollow Coves’ Blessings.

Responding to the song’s usage with their own Story to thank Kardashian for the plug, the boost has since sent the pair a heap of traffic, and increasing the song’s streams on platforms such as Spotify.

“It has always blown our mind to see the wide range of people that our music has managed to reach,” the group told The Music.

“From Louis Tomlinson early in our career, to Aussie icon Hugh Jackman, and now Kim Kardashian. It never ceases to amaze us. The internet is a weird place!”

Indeed, in 2015, One Direction’s Tomlinson plugged the band on Twitter, praising their “really cool” sound and encouraging fans to “have a look”. To date, that lone Tweet has been liked more than 97,000 times.

Plugs such as these have seen the pair have their online presence blow up, and currently, they sit at just shy of six million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, with more than a billion lifetime streams across all platforms.

In November, the pair took out Live Act Of The Year at the Gold Coast Music Awards, and in April, they were named Export Artist Of The Year at the Queensland Music Awards (QMAs)

Currently, they’re hard at work on their third studio album, which is slated to arrive sometime next year. Here’s hoping Kim Kardashian will be first in line to grab a copy.
