Weeks after Queens Of The Stone Age cancelled eight European shows – comprising festival appearances and headline gigs – due to frontman Josh Homme requiring “emergency surgery,” the US rockers have cancelled seven other gigs as Homme receives continued medical care. The band announced the news by sharing a statement on social media on Friday (26 July).

“Due to continued medical care, it is under doctors’ orders that Josh Homme remain in their care in the United States,” the statement reads.

It continues, “The Homme family and QOTSA are so grateful for the outpouring of well wishes and kind understanding during this time.”

Queens Of The Stone Age pulled out of appearances at the Way Out West music festival in Sweden, the Norwegian music festival Øyafestivalen, Denmark’s Syd For Solen, Le Cabaret Vert in France, the Netherlands’ Lowlands festival, the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium, and the Portuguese event, Vilar de Mouros Festival.

However, punters who had tickets to Way Out West, Øyafestivalen and Syd For Solen will arrive to a special surprise, with Jack White performing in the band’s headline slots. All seven festivals take place in August – you can find the dates below.

The Music sends best wishes to Josh Homme and the band at this time.

While the band haven’t revealed what Homme is struggling with, he hasn’t exactly had the best run with his health in the last year.

Last June, Homme shared that he’d been diagnosed with cancer and had successful surgery to remove a tumour.

“I never say it can’t get any worse. I never say that, and I wouldn’t advise it,” Homme said. “But I do say it can get better.

“Cancer is just the cherry on top of an interesting time period, you know? I’m extremely thankful that I’ll get through this, and I’ll look back at this as something that’s fucked up — but will have made me better. I’m cool with that.”

In November, Homme revealed some good news: he’d been given the “all-clear” from his doctors.

Earlier this year, Queens Of The Stone Age toured Australia and played at MONA FOMA and Lookout Festival. The gigs were in support of their eighth album, In Times New Roman.
