US rockers Queens Of The Stone Age have announced details of their long-awaited eighth album, In Times New Roman…, and dropped their first new song in six years, Emotion Sickness. Their new album follows 2017's Villains.
Queens Of The Stone Age aren’t opting for a five-month or even three-month album rollout – In Times New Roman… will be released on Friday, 16 June, via Remote Control Records in Australia and Matador on a global scale.
Emotion Sickness is a rollicking rock and roll number that hints at the “raw, at times brutal and not recommended for the faint of heart” description offered in a press release.
The band’s leader, vocalist Josh Homme, and bandmates Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore come together to create “the sound of a band creating the music its own members want to hear while giving the rest of us a sonic forum in which to congregate”.
In Times New Roman... was recorded and mixed at Homme’s own Pink Duck Studios (RIP), with additional recording at Shangri-La. The album was produced by Queens Of The Stone Age and mixed by Mark Rankin. You can pre-order a physical release of the album or pre-save it here.
Check out Emotion Sickness below, and stay tuned for the global premiere of the music video tonight (12 May) at 11 pm AEST.

In September 2018, Queens Of The Stone Age returned to Australia for a huge run of shows, including a special, intimate acoustic set at Mona's Nolan Gallery. The band’s Tasmanian show raised over $20,000 in proceeds towards Royal Hobart Hospital Paediatrics Ward.
"Mona’s communications’ networks nearly imploded due to unprecedented demand for tickets to this bespoke charity event," Mona music curator, Brian Ritchie, said in a statement.
"Punters drooled at their good fortune to hear world-class rockers in the rarest of environments, The Nolan Gallery. The music throbbed, but there was a higher purpose, generating income to support Royal Hobart Hospital Children’s Ward."
