"Inspiring, honest, humble."
Fremantle Festival unveiled its biggest line-up to date this year, and with more than 40 events set to run from Oct 28, navigating the 10-day program can be a daunting task.
To alleviate that stress, here’s a starting point, curating by some of the acts on the bill:
Timothy Nelson album launch, Fremantle Arts Centre, 5 Nov
Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter
Because Nelson is one of WA's best songwriters and performers. He's inspiring, honest, humble and no one's fool. His new album is sure to be his best work yet.
Clementine Ford - How To Fight Like A Girl, Fremantle Town Hall, 1 Nov
She's an awesome person. Brave, intelligent, informed and humorous. Exactly the kind of person I want to hear more from. She's a fierce woman who is undeterred by backlash from people who are confronted by bold women. Ignore the silly people - listen to Clem.
Joni In The Moon, St Johns Anglican Church, 29 Oct
Joni has the most beautiful voice in Australia. Joni has incredible songs. Joni is my hero. Go hear Joni sing and die happy.
I'll be getting a Halloween costume on to see The Tonight Show with Abbe May on 31 Oct at Fremantle Town Hall.
I don't get over to WA much and this will be awesome chance to catch a bunch of up and coming acts in one hit!
I would just love to see:
CW Stoneking, Fremantle Town Hall, 28 Oct
Darren Hanlon, St John's Anglican Church, 3 Nov
The Drones, Fremantle Town Hall, 3 Nov
Alas, my own tour has me scrambling around the countryside, but I might be able go on the Arts Hustle tour, that would be fun.
Really looking forward to all the acts playing at Freo festival, though a couple that really stick out for us are:
Waleed Aly, Fremantle Town Hall, 29 Oct
His key address is bound to be one of the most interesting. We love his work on the podcast Minefield and listen to it all the time in the tour van.
C.W Stoneking, Fremantle Town Hall, 28 Oct
Such a great and quirky talent, we have a copy of all his stuff on vinyl.
