On Thursday (11 June), six icons of Australian and New Zealand music were honoured with induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame.

The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) held an ARIA Hall of Fame Special Event at Carriageworks, Sydney, with the Class of 2026: Gurrumul, Jenny Morris, Kate Ceberano, Spiderbait, The Living End, and Vika & Linda, entering the hallowed Hall of Fame, with Myf Warhurst hosting the celebrations.

And for music fans who weren’t able to be a part of the action yesterday, there’s good news: the Hall of Fame Special Event will be broadcast nationally via ABC tomorrow night (13 June). The standalone event airs at 9:15 pm on ABC Entertains and ABC iView.

Viewers tuning in on Saturday night will witness a powerful tribute to the late Gurrumul, with Briggs inducting the profoundly inspirational artist into the Hall of Fame.

The Living End followed, offering a performance of their classic tunes, Prisoner of Society, White Noise, and All Torn Down, after a pre-recorded, heartfelt message from Jimmy Barnes inducted them.

Kate Ceberano was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame by Eddie Perfect and showcased her hits, Pash and Brave, the latter joined by her daughter Gypsy Lee.

Vika & Linda took to the stage soon after, showcasing their harmonies with hits like Never Let Me Go, When Will You Fall For Me, and Where Do You Come From, and were inducted into the Hall of Fame by Julia Zemiro.

Spiderbait entered the Hall of Fame courtesy of Australian actress Claudia Karvan and closed the night with performances of Calypso, Black Betty, and Buy Me a Pony, while former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern honoured b, and she wasn’t the only one.

Morris’ catalogue was spotlighted by Dan Sultan, Mia Wray, and Kate Miller-Heidke, who performed a medley of her beloved hits.

Upon the announcement of this year’s ARIA Hall of Fame inductees and Special Event ceremony in early May, ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd said, “This year’s Hall of Fame inductees represent the depth, diversity and enduring influence of Australian music across generations. Each of these artists has shaped how Australian music is heard and understood at home and around the world.

“As we mark 40 years of the ARIA Awards, it feels especially meaningful to honour these artists whose work has defined moments in time and continues to resonate with audiences today. This is a celebration of legacy and their continued success, but also the ongoing influence these artists have on Australian music. This is going to be a very special night, and I am super excited to be a part of it.”
