The RocKwiz gang is back, and they’re already gearing up for Christmas celebrations.

This year, RocKwiz’s Very Merry Christmas will take over Melbourne’s Hamer Hall for the first time. The annual festive celebration is taking place on Thursday, 17 December, with award-winning host Julia Zemiro alongside the inimitable quizmaster, Brian Nankervis.

Seasonal songs, exciting questions, and the comedy of RocKwiz will be showcased throughout the evening.

Zemiro and Nankervis will be accompanied by surprise musical guests, the official house band, the RocKwiz OrKestra, and “human scoreboard,” Dugald. Special guests will remain under wraps until the night, and contestants will be selected from the audience gathering in the foyer before the show.

Previous surprise musical guests have included Kate Ceberano, Billy Bragg, Emma Donovan, Leo Sayer, Kutcha Edwards, and Kate Miller-Heidke.

RocKwiz’s Really Really Good Friday has been hosted at Hamer Hall for the Easter long weekend for ten years, and now, for the first time, the Very Merry Christmas special has been specially created just for the venue.

Tickets for the Very Merry Christmas event will be available on Wednesday, 2 September – head to the Arts Centre Melbourne website to secure your tickets.

Julia Zemiro said of taking the festival RocKwiz show to Hamer Hall, “We love performing in ‘The Hall’ and we adore our faithful Melbourne audiences. We’ve roasted and toasted Easter for ten years now, so we thought it was time to give Chrissy a red-hot crack! It will be fun.”

Melbourne has scored some special RocKwiz shows this year. In May, the beloved music quiz extravaganza returned to its spiritual home of The Espy for four nights only.

The Espy’s Venue Manager, Ben Burgess, said when the shows were announced, “To have RocKwiz return to the Gershwin Room is incredibly special for us. This room has such a rich live music history, and RocKwiz is a huge part of that story. Bringing it back in such an intimate format feels like a full-circle moment for The Espy and for Australian music fans.”
