Despite the dubious track selection, there’s still plenty to like about Live, but it’s a shame the band couldn’t have included a few more fan favourites

What really separates Alkaline Trio from their peers when they’re in-form is their passion, which My Shame Is True has in spades.

Bad Religion might not be the most progressive band in the world, but as they’ve proven once again on True North, they’re one of the most consistent.

The return of The Pogues made 2012 even richer for Daniel Johnson, who woulda been happy enough with The Gaslight Anthem and Regina Spektor.

The Spazzys might not be reinventing the wheel, or even their own sound, but it’s nice to have them back.

“You don’t want to go back to a place too many times and just burn people out, we like things to be a little bit special. We’ll be back though.”

Despite her late arrival, judging by the elation on faces leaving tonight, no one is holding a grudge.

“Well, we’ve talked a lot about doing one [No Use For A Name song] with Lagwagon and I think we will. We’re having a bit of a tough time coming to agreement on which song to do – it’s difficult because we all like the band a lot and everybody has different songs they’d like to play.”

"We ended up doing a zydeco tune with Buckwheat Zydeco. I don’t know if you’re familiar with him but he’s basically The Man – if you’re going to do a zydeco song with somebody, he’s the guy."
