Last December, Dutch musician, rapper, singer, and former YouTuber Joost Klein – also a Eurovision sensation – announced that he’d be making his Australian debut this year.
But at the time, he shared the tour dates minus the venues. Those came later, and the tour has been met with incredible demand.
Klein begins the tour by taking over Melbourne’s Festival Hall on Wednesday, 2 December. The shows continue at Brisbane’s The Tivoli on Friday, 4 December, Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Saturday, 5 December, and conclude at Perth’s Astor Theatre on Tuesday, 8 December.
When the venues were initially announced earlier this year, Klein was set to perform at Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre. Clearly, demand exceeded what those spaces could accommodate, prompting the venue upgrades.
The Brisbane and Perth dates are sold out; tickets remain for the Melbourne and Sydney dates via the Live Nation Australia website.
Primarily a hip-hop artist who experiments with electronic and punk music, Klein has released seven albums, two of which reached the Top 10 in the Netherlands.
He’s best known for tracks including Wachtmuziek (2022), Europapa (2024), Luchtballon (2024), as well as collaborations with Ski Aggu and Otto Waalkes on Friesenjung (2023), Eurovision star Käärijä on TRAFIK! (2024), and Tommy Cash on United by Music this year.
Klein’s song, Europapa, was selected to represent the Netherlands at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, and subsequently became his first song to top the Dutch Top 40 and Single Top 100 Charts.
This year, Joost Klein made history by being the first Dutch-language artist to perform at Coachella and headline a world tour stopping in North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe.
