By the time Rose played her final song, The Good Life, the crowd had become a blur of dancing limbs.

You can anticipate when Jimmy Barnes is about to arrive on stage. The air changes, you get a little bit hotter, and you find yourself warming up your vocals chords.

As band members dodged balloons thrown and kicked around by an enthusiastic crowd, they churned out vibrant pop-rock gems with ease and style.

Even more mesmerising than his falsetto – which at times reminds of Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos – was when it leapt to a guttural growl, as it did in a frenetic finale.

This was an engaging, exciting and at times inspiring set.
