Just days after teasing fans with word of an upcoming film in which they perform country covers of their own songs, Amyl And The Sniffers have officially announced the impending release of Truth Or Consequence.
Recorded at Los Angeles’ El Coyote Mexican Restaurant on April 28th, 2025 by the band's long-time collaborator John Angus Stewart, Truth Or Consequence is a “film of live music” which captures the band performing unique country renditions of their back catalogue.
Comprising 13 tracks, it features ten songs from the band’s discography (including Hertz, Jerkin’, and Caltex Cowgirl), along with two unreleased songs (Fella and Bag Of Cocaine), and a cover of Slim Dusty’s Lights On The Hill.
Trainspotters might also recognise the track Little Bit Punk, Little Bit Country on the tracklist, which sounds new, but is actually a renamed version of Don't Need A Cunt (Like You To Love Me). Meanwhile, Me & The Girls (Are Drunk At The Pig Farm) is a similarly countrified rendition of the track Me & The Girls.

“The hope for this record is that it is listened to as it was made, in a ruckus exclamation between a cherished group of friends,” the band said of the album.

While the recording of the set will be issued on streaming and vinyl on September 4th (with pre-orders available now), the concert film will also be having international screenings from late August.
Interspersed with candid behind the scenes moments, fans across Australia, Europe, the UK, Ireland, and Brazil will be able to catch the film at various theatres, with full screening details available via the band’s website.
While a country shift might sound like an interesting route for Amyl And The Sniffers to take, fans have previously received a taste of what this may sound like.
In 2021, Swedish outfit Viagra Boys (whom bassist Gus Romer represents via his wardrobe in Truth Or Consequence) released their Welfare Jazz album, which closes with a cover of John Prine's In Spite Of Ourselves.
Originally released by Prine on his 1999 record of the same name, it was issued as a duet alongside Iris DeMent, with Amyl And The Sniffers’ Amy Taylor taking on the role of guest vocalist for the nascent rendition.
Amyl And The Sniffers’ Truth Or Consequence will be released physically and digitally on September 4th, with pre-orders available now, and screening details available here.
