Perth synth-metal outfit Voyager have, understandably, not played that many shows since singer Danny Estrin received a life-altering cancer diagnosis in September 2023. But, they’re “taking a leap of faith” by heading to the UK for a huge festival slot next year.

Since cancelling all their tour dates for 2024, Voyager have played a handful of shows this year—three of them in Western Australia, and a surprise appearance at the German music festival, Euroblast, in September. Their most recent performance was at last month’s WA Day Festival.

Now, Voyager have announced that they’re heading to the UK for Manchester’s Radar Festival, taking place from 31 July to 2 August, which will star fellow Australian acts Thy Art Is Murder and Northlane. The Perth rockers will appear as a festival exclusive act.

“After a cautious couple of years, and with Danny continuing treatment to put the brakes on his cancer, we’re taking a leap of faith and heading back to the UK,” the band shared on social media yesterday (17 December).

“We’re thrilled to announce we’ll be playing RADAR Festival alongside an incredible lineup — and we can’t wait to see you there.”

Weekend passes for Radar Festival are now available, with one-day passes available from this Friday. Head to the event’s website for more details.

Following their return to Germany for Euroblast in September, the band described the experience as “a night we will never forget.”

“The uncertainty of cancer made it look more and more unlikely that we'd be able to finish what we started two years ago,” they wrote. “But with each positive scan, the faith grew stronger that we could fulfill our comeback this year, and we're so grateful to have been given that opportunity.”

The band then thanked the Euroblast team, their fans, their own crew, photographers, and others.

Earlier this year, Voyager launched their powerful comeback with shows in Perth and the release of their single, Seen Better Days.

Last December, Estrin described his cancer as a “nasty one” and informed fans that he’d been taking new medications and chemotherapy.

The news of Estrin’s cancer diagnosis arrived after a massive year that included representing Australia at Eurovision and releasing their eighth album, Fearless In Love.

Upon cancelling last year's tour dates, Estrin told fans, “The good news is that the wonderful team of oncologists and nurses have been doing such a fantastic job that the cancer is shrinking, which is awesome because there’s nothing worse than you feeling like crap and it doing nothing.”
