According to a new report in the Sunday Herald, Kylie Minogue – this year’s AFL Grand Final pre-game entertainment headliner – will showcase a 20-minute extravaganza that’s set to be “the biggest spectacle ever seen at the MCG.”
The performance marks the first time that Minogue has headlined the AFL Grand Final, taking place on Saturday, 26 September, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The Sunday Herald notes that Kylie’s performance, produced by the international singing team in partnership with Mushroom and the AFL, will be a “world-class production.” What will her performance feature? An avant-garde stage, dancers, and visual elements that have never been seen before during a Grand Final performance.
Additionally, Yarra Park will host a Footy Festival and a Kylie Village, where fans can purchase exclusive official merchandise: Kylie Village and the Footy Festival launch on Wednesday, 23 September.
In a statement, AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said that Kylie’s performance marks “the greatest production and show” the organisation has put on to date.
“Kylie’s performance on the day of the Grand Final is the greatest production and show we’ve performed so far,” he said.
Dillon continued, “We are very excited that Kylie is returning home to perform on our most important day, in front of 100,000 people at the stadium and many more millions of people who will be watching the broadcast.”
In late March, it was announced that Kylie would headline this year’s AFL Grand Final pre-game entertainment.
She said at the time: “The AFL Grand Final at Melbourne’s one and only, forever iconic MCG? Yes, please!
“As a Melburnian, I’m so excited to be coming home for the biggest day in the Aussie sporting calendar. I’ll not only be performing, but I’ll be one of 100,000 fans at the ‘G, watching the wonder that is footy.”
Snoop Dogg headlined the 2025 AFL Pre-Game Entertainment, where he was accompanied by special guests Tash Sultana, Baker Boy, and Jessica Mauboy. Previous years have seen headline performances by Katy Perry, KISS, and Robbie Williams, the latter joined by Delta Goodrem on the big day.
Kylie toured Australia last March for her first headline shows Down Under since 2019, bringing her Tension Tour to arenas across the country.
