OneFour ProfileONEFOUR recently took over triple j studios for Like A Version, and their cover was all kinds of unexpected. From the song choice to the guest performers, we highly doubt anyone saw this one coming.
For their Like A Version, the Western Sydney drill group took on an iconic ‘80s tune, In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins, and they were joined by Jimmy Barnes – singing the intro – and Jessica Mauboy harmonising alongside the rock legend and showcasing her epic vocal range.
After the classic drum fill, ONEFOUR delivered their brand of rap, with Barnesy letting some signature vocal riffs fly during the verses. With vocals from Mahalia Barnes and Jessica Mauboy throughout the performance, ONEFOUR truly brought the element of surprise to In the Air Tonight.
In addition to covering Phil Collins, ONEFOUR presented a performance of their latest single HIM, released last month. Plus, they spoke about the inspired song choice in an interview with triple j.
ONEFOUR discussed knowing that In the Air Tonight was the perfect song to cover after recently hearing it in the car, describing Collins’ track as “angelic and uplifting.”
“In the Air Tonight just felt like something’s coming. Jimmy and Jess, plus us boys, we all come from different genres of music and backgrounds, so just to come together – it was definitely a moment,” Celly said.
Jimmy Barnes also talked about the unlikely pairing with triple j’s Abby Butler and Tyrone Pynor. “When I got asked to do it, Mahalia, my daughter, rang me up and said, ‘Do you want to do this?’ I said, ‘Shit yeah,’” Barnes said.
He added, “So, it was a match made in heaven. And I got into the rehearsal room with these guys, and it was just… it was full on straight away. We connected straight away. It was great.”

Earlier this week, the group postponed their upcoming regional tour, which would have started today, to early 2027. In a statement, they cited unforeseen circumstances.
ONEFOUR are touring in support of their debut album, Look At Me Now, released last year. Featuring collaborations with Headie One, The Kid LAROI, Mabel and others, the record unlocked new career opportunities for the group.
Following its release last June, Look At Me Now debuted at #2 on the ARIA Albums Chart. At last year’s ARIA Awards, it was nominated for Best Hip-Hop Release, and for the 2025 J Awards, it was nominated for Australian Album of the Year.
