Breaking Benjamin ProfileThe world of video games and hard rock have once more collided for fans of US outfit Breaking Benjamin, with the group’s frontman pausing a recent show to go on a rant about his penchant for modding Fallout 4.
Performing in the US state of New Jersey on Sunday, September 6th, vocalist, guitarist, and video game fanatic Benjamin Burnley took the time to reflect on his love of the game, the modding community, and to rally the troops in support of his rivalry towards a rival modder.
For those unaware, Fallout 4 is a 2015 action role-playing game which has accrued a voracious fanbase, and has often been considered one of the greatest video games of the 21st century.
It's also inspired a large modding community, wherein fans of the game add, edit, or create their own content to provide a unique and different gameplay experience. However, it also inspires a community in which rivalries can form, as Burnley explained to the crowd.
Taking time out from the show, he went on a five-minute explainer about his passions, detailing his status as an "amateur modder" for the likes of Skyrim and Fallout 4, and readily admitting his words may be falling on deaf ears.
"I'm sorry everybody," he quipped. "A lot of you are not going to know what the fuck we're talking about."

"I just made a mod [...] that makes it so that when you're in first person, you stay in first person," he continued. "You see your body in first person. When you go into a workshop, you're in first person and third-person still works."
The mod – fittingly called True First Person – is available for download now from Nexus Mods, which is something Burnley urged the crowd repeatedly to do before explaining why he was going on this rant.
"There was a modder in the community that was really mean to me and bullied me, saying, 'Oh, you're mod is shit. You can't even know what you fucking doin','" he explained. "So I'm doing this shit every fuckin' night blowing his fucking downloads out of the water. Please help me destroy this fucking jerk."
To Burnley's credit, he maintained a self-awareness about the whole situation, laughing as he seemed to underline the almost childishness of interrupting a show (and not for the first time, it seems) to try and disrupt the efforts of another modder. "I'm even gonna you know not even say his name," he added. "He's a dick and fuck him and download my fucking mod."
Even as one punter yelled "play some music," Burnley continued, putting his mod's details up on a display before he wrapped up his rant and continued on with the set." Thank you guys for your time and patience," he concluded. "I'm sorry, I'll be doing it every night until I reach a million downloads."
Currently, his mod boasts a meagre 3,622 downloads at the time of writing, so there's still a ways to go.
Fans of Breaking Benjamin may not be entirely surprised by the group's connection to gaming. After all, one of their most popular songs – Blow Me Away – was specifically written for the soundtrack of Halo 2 in 2004.
It was later released as a single in 2010, with a remix version arriving the following year, and ultimately seeing the track impact the top 40 of numerous US charts.
