Indie rock icons (and honorary Australian) The Lemonheads are gearing up for a big year, with their first new album of original material in almost two decades arriving in October.

Titled Love Chant, the album’s official release date has not yet been announced, though frontman Evan Dando has noted it won’t be long before fans start hearing tastes of the record.

“I’m really excited about our new record Love Chant coming out on FIRE," said Dando, shouting out their label of the last decade. “I have a feeling people are really gonna enjoy it.

“It was made with Love, Fire and Chanting. It will be out fall 2025. We will be peppering the airwaves with singles from May 14th onwards.”

The new album will serve as the band’s first original album since 2006’s self-titled effort, which in turn followed on from an eight-year split that ended the prior year.

In 2009, the band released the covers album Varshons, which featured renditions of Townes Van Zandt, Christina Aguilera, GG Allin, and more, while 2019’s Varshons II tackled Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, the Eagles, and shortlived Aussie supergroup The Givegoods.
