G Flip Brings Local Talent To No. 1 On The Radio Monitor Hot 100

G Flip joins Sonny Fodera and Josh Fawaz as the only locals to have topped the Radio Monitor Hot 100 this year.

It’s a good day for Australian music fans, with G Flip becoming the latest local act to hit the top of the Radio Monitor Hot 100.

The chart – which serves as Australia’s official radio airplay music charts – tracks the most popular songs doing the rounds on air at the moment, but has largely been centred around international acts in recent months.

However, G Flip has now hit the pointy end thanks to their track Bed On Fire. The song – which was issued on G Flip’s Dream Ride in September and received a single release earlier this year – has spent a number of weeks in the top ten, having last week peaked at an impressive No. 2.

For its 15th week on the chart though, it’s made an impressive jump over last week's chart-topper, Olivia Rodrigo's stupid song. Ariana Grande's hate that i made you love me jumps three spots to No. 3, as do Temper City with Self Aware at No. 4. Meanwhile, Rodrigo holds steady at No. 5 for another week with drop dead.

Much of the song’s popularity has been driven by its appearance on the Amazon Prime Video series, Off Campus. The singer and multi-instrumentalist thanked the Off Campus team for changing their life, adding that fans’ streams since the sync equated to “the most streams I’ve ever had in a day of my whole career.”

While G Flip’s Bed On Fire has previously peaked at No. 28 on the ARIA chart, it’s currently found at No. 68 on the national chart, while the only local cuts in the top 50 belong to Tame Impala, with Loser at No. 8, and Dracula at No. 20.

G Flip isn’t the only Australian act to top the Radio Monitor Hot 100 this year, with Josh Fawaz’s controversial rework of Madonna’s Like A Prayer having previously done so for two weeks back in June.

However, this milestone also saw the track receiving plenty of attention and accusations that it was created with AI, a fact which Fawaz ostensibly admitted to when AI credits were added to the track on Spotify in July. It currently sits at No. 14 on the chart.

Prior to Fawaz, it was Sonny Fodera who brought local pride to the top, becoming the first Australian act to do so since 2024 when Think About Us hit No. 1 in February. That one has also got staying power, currently being found at No. 44.
