Sonny FoderaIt’s a big day for local music, with Sonny Fodera hitting the top of the Radio Monitor Hot 100 chart – becoming the first local act to do so since 2024.
Fodera’s effort is immortalised in the latest figures from the Radio Monitor chart, which sees his track Think About Us sitting atop Australia’s official radio airplay music charts.
Originally released back in October, it's a collaboration with British producer D.O.D. and vocalist Poppy Baskcomb, and has clearly found quite a fanbase since its arrival.
Around the world, the track has done well for the Adelaide-born, London-based musician. Topping New Zealand's Hot 40 Singles last month, it's hit the top 20 in the UK, and also on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs in the US.
In Australia, it's only peaked at No. 48 on the overall charts, but it's hit a very respectable No. 4 on the Australian Dance chart.
For the Radio Monitor Hot 100, the tune first debuted at No. 81 in early November. Notably, it snuck into the chart alongside Somedays, Fodera and D.O.D.’s 2024 release, which had previously gotten as high as No. 3.

However, Think About Us now holds the honour of being the first Australian track to top the chart since Cyril collaborated with Dean Lewis on a cover of Crowded House’s Fall At Your Feet. That one reached the top after 13 weeks in October 2024 – three months after its release.
The success of the track is understandable once listened to, but on a more specific level, radio plugger Anthony Colombi and the Global PR team can share in some of the glory, with Fodera’s 26.3 million impressions having just edged out Bruno Mars’ I Just Might, which sits in the silver medal position after 26.29 million impressions.
“We’re incredibly proud to see Sonny Fodera continue his hot streak,” said Scott Baker-Smith, Head of Music at Nova Network. “This latest milestone builds on the momentum of his summer favourites Tell Me and Somedays, and it’s a great reflection of how strongly the audience backs quality local music.
“At Nova, supporting Australian artists is part of our DNA, and it’s exciting to see that support translate into real success, whether it’s global forces like Tame Impala or rising names such as Yes Boone or Keli Holiday, who we’re thrilled to be welcoming to Nova’s Red Room very soon.”
“Seeing Sonny hit #1 is an incredible moment for us! It shows the power of the song and how strongly it’s connecting with our listeners,” adds Kiri Martin, Senior Music Director of the Hit Network.
“This is massive not just for Sonny, but for Australian music as a whole and a great reminder that our local artists can dominate on the charts alongside global hits.”
When it comes to other local acts in the chart, Tame Impala's Dracula currently sits at No. 14, with Yes Boone's All I Really Want over at No. 22. You'll find Guy Sebastian's 100 Times Around The Sun at No. 31, while Mia Wray's When We Were Young and FISHER's Rain charting at No. 34 and No. 38, respectively.
Only two other local cuts feature in the top 50, including The Kid LAROI's Lithe-featuring RATHER BE at No. 41, and previous chart-topper CYRIL at No. 42 with his Maryjo collab, Still Into You.
