Slipknot ProfileHeavy veterans Slipknot have unveiled their latest new single, with Arsenal arriving just weeks after the group announced the departure of longtime turntablist Sid Wilson.
The new track is their first since 2023’s Bone Church single, and sees the group delivering standard fare, complete with frenetic rhythms, heavy guitars, and Corey Taylor’s ferocious vocals.
It’s even complemented by an unexpected sample from the Beastie Boys’ (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!) in its beginning, while the Shawn 'Clown' Crahan-directed clip features the talents of actor Jackson White.
However, Arsenal is notable for a couple of reasons. To begin with, it’s the first time that Slipknot have released a single with new drummer Eloy Casagrande, who joined the band in 2024.
Casagrande took over from Jay Weinberg, who had been with the group for close to a decade until Slipknot announced their decision in late 2023 to part ways with him as part of a “creative decision” they claimed was in line with their continual intent to keep “evolving”.
Secondly, Arsenal also arrives not even a month after Slipknot officially confirmed that Wilson – who had been performing with the group since 1998 – was no longer a member of Slipknot.
Reports of Wilson’s firing had first emerged in early August, when TMZ reported that he had been “permanently kicked out” of the band. However, Slipknot did not immediately responded to the report or share their own statement regarding rumours spreading across the internet.
However, while the band initially shared no statement on social media, guitarist Jim Root took to his Instagram Stories and encouraged fans to wait for more information to arrive.
Weeks later, Slipknot shared – and subsequently deleted – an official statement noting, “Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
While Slipknot have not performed live since July 2025, Rolling Stone notes that the group – including Wilson – had previously been performing with an as-yet-unidentified member who had contributed samples and turntablism to the live show.
Given the prominent usage of turntables in Arsenal, it’s currently unclear whether it also marks the recorded debut of the touring member, whether it features elements previously recorded by Wilson, or if another musician has been brought into the fold.
Earlier this year, Slipknot released their long-shelved 2008 album, Look Outside Your Window, as part of this year’s Record Store Day celebrations.
Released under the Look Outside Your Window moniker, rather than Slipknot, the LP features contributions from band members Taylor, Root, Crahan, and Wilson.
