Slipknot Officially Confirm Departure Of Longtime Turntablist Sid Wilson

After weeks of speculation, metal icons Slipknot have officially confirmed the firing of longtime DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson.

News of Wilson’s firing had first emerged earlier this month, when TMZ reported that he had been “permanently kicked out” of the band. However, Slipknot did not immediately responded to the report or share their own statement regarding rumours spreading across the internet.

However, Slipknot’s main shared no statement on social media, guitarist Jim Root took to his Instagram Stories and encouraged fans to wait for more information to arrive.

“Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile,” Root wrote at the time. While he didn’t mention Wilson by name, the post was soundtracked by the Slipknot song, Til We Die.

He added, “Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”

However, it appears Wilson’s departure has now been confirmed, with Slipknot sharing an official statement (which has since been deleted) noting, “Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson.

“We wish him the best in his future endeavors,” the statement concluded.

It is unclear why the post has since been deleted, and no further details have been shared via the band.

Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998, taking on the numerical designation of #0, and performing on all releases to date, save for the group's independent debut, Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat., from 1996.

His tenure within the band left him as the fourth-longest serving member, behind founding percussionist and vocalist Shawn 'Clown' Crahan, guitarist Mick Thomson, and vocalist Corey Taylor.

Earlier this year, Slipknot released their long-shelved 2008 album, Look Outside Your Window, as part of this year’s Record Store Day celebrations.

Released under the Look Outside Your Window moniker, rather than Slipknot, the LP features contributions from band members Taylor, Root, Crahan, and Wilson.

In 2024, Slipknot welcomed their latest member: new drummer Eloy Casagrande, who previously played with Brazilian metal icons Sepultura.

The news arrived after Slipknot dismissed drummer Jay Weinberg, who was “heartbroken and blindsided” by the band’s decision. In 2023, the group parted ways with longtime keyboard player and sampler Craig Jones, following Chris Fehn’s departure in 2019.

News of Wilson’s now-confirmed departure from Slipknot also coincides with unconfirmed reports that he and fiancée Kelly Osbourne had ended their engagement.

Slipknot last visited Australia as part of the March 2025 Knotfest celebrations, and the group have not performed live since July 2025.
