'Loser' is the follow-up to the dance-inspired single 'End of Summer,' released in July.

Tame Impala—the psychedelic music project of Perth artist Kevin Parker—are back, continuing their new era with a groovy track called Loser.
The follow-up to the recently released seven-minute single, End Of Summer, Loser finds Tame Impala returning to a more psychedelic rock sound, rather than the house-inspired music that informed the former track.
Somewhat referencing the Beck hit of the same name, Parker sings “I’m a loser, babe/ Do you wanna tear my heart out?” in the chorus. The music video focuses on Stranger Things star Joe Keery, also known as the musician Djo.
In the clip, Keery seems lost and down in the dumps after his love interest drives off at the beginning of the video. He walks through Los Angeles before arriving at the convenience store Bob’s Market and looking even more dejected over a beer. After a brief face swap with Parker, the video closes with a smiling Keery before it cuts to black.

In July, Tame Impala dropped the track End Of Summer, the first piece of new music from the project since 2020’s The Slow Rush.

The seven-minute epic pays tribute to various eras of dance music. End Of Summer gradually unfurls itself to reveal Tame Impala as a primal rave act, drawing from acid house music of the ‘90s and Australia’s bush doofs, all leading to a new kind of music from the band. End Of Summer also marked the first song to be released on Tame Impala’s new label home, Columbia Records.
Also in July, Parker hinted that new Tame Impala music was on the way by captioning a post on Instagram, “been busy.”
The carousel post on Instagram saw Parker in recording studios, performing DJ sets, at festivals, attending dinner dates, and more.
The first shot of the post showed Parker beside his wife, Sophie Lawrence, who is pregnant with their second child. The last photo, however, saw Parker share a recording progress chart. Tame Impala’s next album will seemingly contain 13 songs, which have been marked off as “done.”
In December, Parker will return Down Under and open for Justice on their upcoming Australian tour, where he’s set to perform DJ sets in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.
