It’s been a long five years since the release of Tame Impala’s most recent album, The Slow Rush, but we might finally be hearing some new music soon.
According to a new Instagram post, which is captioned “Been busy,” Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker is seen in recording studios, performing DJ sets, at festivals, attending dinner dates, and more.
The first shot of the Instagram carousel shows Parker beside his wife, Sophie Lawrence, who is pregnant with their second child. The last photo, however, sees Parker share a recording progress chart. Tame Impala’s next album will seemingly contain 13 songs, which have been marked off as “done.”
The post also received excited comments from fans and people in the music industry alike, with SZA writing “God I need this so bad rn,” Apple Music’s Zane Lowe describing Parker as having a “beautiful life,” Dua Lipa saying, “ugh I love you guys,” and Australian band Velvet Trip summing it up: “This is not a drill!”
Meanwhile, the band’s website has been updated and now has a “subscribe” button on it—you can register for updates here. Check out Tame Impala’s post below.
Just how far off is new music? Well, we’d say that the wait should be ending soon.

In December, Kevin Parker will return Down Under and open for Justice on their upcoming Australian tour, where he’s set to perform DJ sets in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. After last month’s Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, he premiered a new Tame Impala song during a DJ set.
And, as noted on Instagram, Parker has been busy. In 2023, he released the song Journey To The Real World, his contribution to the Barbie soundtrack, and remixed artists such as Elvis Presley and Crowded House.
Recent achievements also include producing Dua Lipa’s latest album, Radical Optimism, and inventing a new synthesiser, while Tame Impala were also credited as guests on Justice’s 2024 tracks One Night/All Night and the Grammy Award-winning Neverender.
Now we have confirmation: Kevin Parker certainly hasn’t forgotten about Tame Impala, or the band’s devoted fans.
