Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister Dead At 70

Iconic heavy metal singer and frontman of Motorhead, Ian Fraser "Lemmy" Kilmister has passed away at 70 years old. 

According to Consequence Of Sound, the English-born musician, real name had been suffering from a number of well-publicized health issues and had been fitted with an implantable defibrillator to correct an irregular heartbeat.

Kilmister celebrated his 70th  birthday just last week.

The band have addressed Kimilster's death on Facebook today, citing that it was caused by "extremely aggressive cancer".

"There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer," the statement read.

"He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family. We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words."

Tweets from Kilmister's close friends including Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Billy Idol and WWE wrestler Triple H among others have addressed his death.

The news comes just over a month after former Motorhead drummer Phil Taylor passed away. 

This past September, Kilmister stopped a performance after just three songs due to poor health.
