Lemmy Kilmister Stops Motorhead Concert: 'I Can't Do It'

Health concerns for the veteran frontman.

More Motorhead More Motorhead

He is known for his excessive drinking and smoking habits and now at 69 years old, Lemmy Kilmister's rock'n'roll lifestyle may have finally caught up to him as the Motorhead frontman was forced to stop a live show in the US this week, just three songs into the set.

Just a week after the UK rockers who are on the road for a 40th anniversary tour, cut their performance short in Salt Lake City and cancelled their appearance at Denver's Riot Fest this year, again halted a show in Austin after Kilmister announced he couldn't continue.

According to a live report from Austin 360, Kilmister looked uncomfortable and uneasy during the opening songs and midway though Metropolis, he ceased singing and said, "I can't do it."

The band quickly left the stage, not long before Kilmister came back out on stage with a cane to apologize to the crowd.

While many are obviously concerned for the singer's health, the band released a statement via their Facebook page earlier today to address the situation, citing altitude issues as the reason behind Kilmister's illness.

"This is a DIRECT follow-on from the altitude issues in Colorado, and clearly, Lemmy tried to get back at it too quickly," the statement read.

"Lemmy will resume duties the moment he is PROPERLY rested and firing on all cylinders again."

The band have cancelled all future dates until Kilmister recover — see the full statement here.
