Alex LaheySydney and Melbourne are set to welcome all-female movement Electric Lady in a couple of months, with debut gigs being held in the cities this June and July.
As per the name and brief, the events — set to be held at the Metro Theatre and Corner Hotel — feature a line-up stacked with some of the country's most in-demand musical women, including Alex Lahey, Ali Barter, Bec Sandridge, Gretta Ray, Jack River, Body Type and Rackett.
The night is the brainchild of Jack River — aka Holly Rankin — herself, having arisen out of discussions with several of her fellow performers on the line-up and peers such as Montaigne, Lisa Mitchell and more.
"The last year in music, politics and culture made me realise the time is now for this idea," Rankin said in a statement. "Girls are ready to amplify their talent alongside each other, and the world is ready for diversity in female role models."
In further service of that ideal, Electric Lady will also be launching an "influencer platform" via their Instagram account — @electricladyworld — boasting interviews with a range of inspiring women from a diversity of backgrounds, including surfers Stephanie Gilmore and Tyler Wright, activist/actor Isabel Lucas, astrophysicist Katie Mack, aeronautical engineer Belinda Pavlovic and rally racing champion Molly Taylor, to name but a few.
Tickets for the inaugural Electric Lady band night go on sale this Thursday, 13 April, from 9am AEST.
