Melbourne singer-songwriter Robert Muinos — he of Saskwatch and Dorsal Fins renown — has unveiled the disconcerting clip for his stunningly emotive new single Weeks At All, proudly premiering today on theMusic.com.au.
The first single to be taken from his forthcoming EP3 release, Weeks At All builds on its ostensibly meek, rueful beginnings to gradually build in intensity and emotion as the introspective multi-instrumentalist opines sweetly and thoughtfully atop its gloriously glacial crescendo.
Recorded with the assistance of fellow Saskwatch members Olaf Scott (keys) and Tom Petit (bass) with fellow Melburnian troubadour Jim Lawrie manning the kit, the track is a beautifully crafted piece of heartfelt songwriting, its clip an eerie accompaniment with its visual suggestions of both devil and god at play in an unassuming church.
The video was directed by Jacintho Muinos, and utilises old-school visual effects — the grainy overlay, the vintage screen ratio to heighten the discombobulation at the heart of the clip, the church's pious exterior belying the ominous behaviour that seeps out of its priest and his parishioners.
