The Music chooses one song every week as its Power Pick, shining a light on ONE Aussie song that we think has the potential to be the next big Australian chart hit.

Our Power Pick committee consists of Richard Kingsmill (consultant and former triple j Group Music Director), Maddy Rowe (Nova nights announcer), Nic Kelly (Hit Network nights announcer), Ash McGregor (host of Listen Up with Ash McGregor), Kent “Smallzy” Small (Host of ‘The Smallzy Show’ on the Kiis Network), Irene Hulme (radio consultant and host of Game Changers Radio podcast) and Ollie Wards (ex-Head of Music for TikTok Australia).

Lovers of Australian music are being advised to point their ears towards the City of Churches, with Adelaide quartet PASH continuing to make their presence felt with the release of their self-titled EP last week.

Emerging in the past few years, the pop-influenced group began releasing music in 2023, and shared their debut EP, PULSE, just one year later. In November, they shared the first taste of their newest collection of music back in November with the release of Tracy.

“PASH is four best mates from Adelaide living out our dreams,” explains frontman Jett Gazley. “It’s all about youthful energy, a dose of swagger and a lot of fun. It’s funny; these boys are the cause of most of my stress and also my therapy. This band is everything to me.“

While their PASH EP arrived last week, it’s lead single Tracy that deserves the most attention, with its slick early-’00s pop vibe and catchy chorus turning it into an alluring banger that commands the attention of all who listen to it.

"PASH are an Adelaide band with a whole lot of swagger on the verge of exploding,” says Irene Hulme of Game Changers Radio.

Tracy isn’t a ‘give it a few listens’ song. Tracy hits you immediately, It’s infectious and guaranteed to stay in your head with just one listen. Aussies need to hear Tracy."

If you need any further proof about PASH and their ever-growing appeal, they’ll be hitting the road in September for their aptly-titled THIS IS THE BIGGEST HEADLINE TOUR WE HAVE EVER DONE tour. Tickets for their run of dates are on sale now.

PREVIOUS POWER PICKS

The lack of Aussie acts in the top ten continues for a second week. This week, the highest-placing home-grown track once again belongs to Sonny Fodera's Think About Us, which is down one spot lower to No. 13, having previously sat in the top spot.

However, it’s joined by a true heatseeker, with Josh Fawaz's Madonna flip, Like A Prayer jumping up to No. 15, after debuting at No. 26 just last week. Meanwhile, Tame Impala's Dracula drops down to No. 18 after weeks spent at No. 16, while Amy Shark's The Biggest Dick follows behind at No. 19.

Rachael Fahim's Deep End to reach a new peak of No. 26, while The Kid LAROI's PIECES drops one spot lower than its peak last week, reaching No. 37.

There's a few more Aussies in the lower end of the top 50, however. Dom Dolla & Tiga's Don't Worry Baby opens proceedings at No. 41, while DMA'S' Heatin Park follows one place behind. Beddy Rays' Morning Light jumps one spot higher to a new peak of No. 44, while Darcie Haven closes the top 50 with Wishbone.
