“Brisbane’s music scene has given us a lot over the years, so we wanted to find a small way to give something back,” The Brightside venue operators explained.

The Brightside is giving back to the music community in Brisbane by offering a free space for local artists and bands to rehearse.

Citing the ongoing cost-of-living crisis affecting Australians, venue operators recognise that setting aside money for rehearsal rooms, renting spaces, or taking a band across a state like Queensland is becoming increasingly difficult.

So, to give back, The Brightside is opening three free, three-hour daytime rehearsal sessions each week for Brisbane acts to get to work. And they’re doing it without hire fees – there’s no catch, “Just a space to rehearse, write songs, tighten your live set and make some noise,” venue operators explained.

They continued, “For 12 years, The Brightside has been lucky enough to sit at the heart of Brisbane’s live music community.

“We’ve watched bands play their first shows, launch records, sell out rooms and grow into artists touring across the country and beyond. Brisbane’s music scene has given us a lot over the years, so we wanted to find a small way to give something back.”

Artists can bring their own gear and utilise the rehearsal space while The Brightside’s team works to prepare the next show. The venue will provide the rehearsal space, a vocal microphone and vocal monitors, a house drum kit (excluding cymbals), stage lighting, and the option to rehearse on stage or on the floor.

You can check the Google Calendar embedded and book your band on The Brightside’s website.

“This runs on an honesty system. While using the space, if something gets damaged or breaks, please let us know,” venue operators continued.

They concluded their statement, “We’re trying to do something positive for Brisbane’s music community — don’t ruin it for everyone else.

“Thanks again for being part of Brisbane’s live music community and supporting The Brightside over the last 12 years.”

The Brightside has proudly operated in the heart of Brisbane for over a decade, and in the last year alone, has hosted over 350 acts on its stages.

Bands and artists who have graced The Brightside’s stages include, but are not limited to, King Gizzard & The Lizard WizardIDLES, The Peep TempelAlex LaheyHoly HolyAmy SharkNorthlane, and many others.
