“When you play the same stuff for too long, you tend to go a bit loopy.”

It’s sincere, sure, but comes across as too sincere to the point of cheesy.

Repetitive after a few listens, but solid and fun nevertheless.

It gets slightly cacophonous at points, but Ellis and co have been careful to allow enough space for the tracks to develop, building a dark and brooding atmosphere.

"We’re really in the middle of getting ready for touring again at the moment, but at the same time we’re furiously writing down all these ideas we’re getting too."

A few tracks, like Run Run Run and Lineri, sway towards dubby dance – probably a tip of the hat to Four Tet and Caribou’s remixes – but this is definitely a late-night-alone album.

"Though Icehouse have been aiming this way for a while, there’s just too much gimmicky goofiness to take this seriously."

Haim were another massive stand-out: their studio recordings don’t do them justice in comparison to their live show at all.

"I think what we’re trying to do [with the new album] is expand the parameters of this sound that we’ve already carved out for ourselves."
