Hilary Duff is finally back in Australia for the first time in nearly two decades.
She performed at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Thursday (22 October), kicking off her in-demand tour of Australia. Her first shows in 18 years have drawn an incredible response, with shows selling out quickly and ecstatic fans filling up arenas for euphoric nights celebrating Duff’s career.
The singer-songwriter and actress is touring in support of her new album, luck… or something, the follow-up to 2015’s Breathe In. Breathe Out. Released in February, Duff previously commented that the album touches on her experiences growing up in the entertainment industry.
Duff’s Australian tour hasn’t disappointed fans. Her first show included songs from her new album, plus classics from 2003’s Metamorphosis, 2004’s self-titled album, 2007’s Dignity, and more, along with a beloved tune from the Lizzie McGuire movie. Following her shows at Auckland’s Spark Arena and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Duff continues her tour at Sydney’s Afterpay Arena tomorrow night, then two shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena and a night at Perth’s RAC Arena next week. All shows are sold out.
Reviewing her Brisbane show, The Music’s Claire Dunton wrote, “We returned to that 2003 Metamorphosis era consistently through the night, and the fever response was more and more excited as the show went on.
“Anywhere But Here, Come Clean, and Why Not had everyone on their feet and screaming the words, and even Duff felt that insane energy coming off the audience, having to tell us many times that we were wild.”
