Album Review: Various - Forever: Love Songs From The Twilight Soundtrack

A couple of dud numbers, but it’s pretty good Valentine’s fodder. Or break-up music.

I made the mistake of reviewing this album following a break-up. The good news is that, in direct parallel to the Twilight films, the accompanying soundtracks have been pretty great. Carter Burwell kicks off this 34-song collection with a beautiful piano instrumental. A few highlights: the immediacy of Death Cab's Meet Me At the Equinox; Iron & Wine's soft, melancholy Flightless Bird, American Mouth; Beck and Bat For Lashes' epic Heroes ode, Let's Get Lost. It's fairly heavily orchestral. A couple of dud numbers, but it's pretty good Valentine's fodder. Or break-up music.
