Brisbane and Perth will be home to a brand-new electronic music festival, DRIFT, in early 2027.
Introduced by tour and festival promoters Untitled Group – who present Beyond the Valley, Ability Fest, Pitch Music & Arts, and more – DRIFT will stop at the Ozone Reserve in Perth on Sunday, 28 February, ahead of the WA Labour Day public holiday, before heading to the Gateway Bridge Underpass in Brisbane on Saturday, 6 March.
The new festival is set to feature two stages, which will host local and international electronic music acts. The focus is on music discovery, building a carefully curated line-up, and celebrating exploration.
Across two unique city locations, DRIFT will transform two different urban settings into open-air festival destinations packed with electronic music, with the days comprising afternoon, evening, and late-night sets.
While the festival shares the same name and creative vision in both cities, each event is designed around its own setting. A press release notes that Perth will feel like a “late-summer Sunday by the water”, while Brisbane will have a “raw, industrial edge”, with its urban surrounds setting the scene for a night of electronic music.
At the time of publication, no line-up has been announced. But you can sign up for pre-sale registration here.
“There’s something really special about launching a brand-new festival, and with DRIFT, we wanted to create something that goes beyond the traditional festival experience,” said Nicholas Greco, Co-Founder / Managing Partner, Untitled Group.
“Built around the feeling of getting lost in the music and discovering something unexpected, DRIFT will bring international and local artists into unique settings. Perth and Brisbane have such strong electronic music communities, and we’re excited to bring DRIFT to both cities in 2027.”
DRIFT has been launched with a cryptic campaign called The Drift Study, which explores the subconscious minds of punters living in Perth and Brisbane.
It invites locals to enter a mysterious sleep study, while sharing a trail of clues and leading to DRIFT’s dedicated website, offering the first hints of what the festival will present in 2027.
