The owners of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders brand are suing My Chemical Romance after the band had cheerleaders appear in costumes spoofing the cheerleaders’ uniform at recent shows.

The Wrap reports that Pro Silver Star Ltd., the brand's owner, has requested a temporary restraining order, a temporary injunction, and unspecified monetary damages against My Chemical Romance.

The company accused the American emo band of degrading its brand during their show at the Hollywood Bowl last week (21 October).

Last Wednesday, My Chemical Romance performed their first of five sold-out The Black Parade 20th anniversary shows at the Hollywood Bowl. During the hit single Teenagers, dancers in spoofed Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders outfits appeared on stage.

Consequence of Sound notes that, at first, the dancers performed choreography before picking up rifles and presenting themselves as protecting the band from “militarised forces.”

“On Oct. 21, 2026, Defendants staged ‘The Black Parade,’ a theatrical concert production set in a fictional dictatorship and featuring pyrotechnics and armed conflict,” the filing reads.

“As part of that production, female performers took to the stage in the DCC Uniform—and then armed themselves with rifles in a staged firefight, only to be depicted being shot.”

Pro Silver Star Ltd.’s filing continued, “Audience members and online commentators understandably believed that the performers were the real Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and said so in social media posts that continue to circulate.”

Elsewhere in the filing, the company said it isn’t seeking to change My Chemical Romance's setlist or “even their decision to put gun-toting performers on stage,” but only to stop using Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders lookalike costumes.

“Silver Star is not litigious, and it takes no issue with MCR’s music, its artistic ambitions, or any message Defendants seek to convey,” the filing reads.

“Silver Star does not ask Defendants to change their setlist, narrative, politics, choreography, or even their decision to put gun-toting performers on stage. Silver Star asks only that those performers not wear the DCC Uniform while doing it. The universe of alternative costume designs is effectively unlimited.”

The company claims it asked My Chemical Romance to stop using the uniforms in their performances, but the band allegedly refused “to stop the infringing use of the DCC Uniform.”

Because the band reportedly refused to stop using the outfits, Pro Silver Star Ltd.’s legal representation claims they’re causing “ongoing and irreparable harm” to the company's reputation and that of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. “Silver Star thus is left with no choice but to bring this action to protect itself,” they said.

My Chemical Romance didn’t respond to The Wrap’s request for comment.

The rock group, comprising lead singer Gerard Way, lead guitarist Ray Toro, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero, and bassist Mikey Way, is currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of their iconic 2006 album, The Black Parade.

In September, frontman Gerard Way addressed fans on stage in San Antonio, saying the band has always wanted to release a fifth album, but they don’t know when they'll make it. Their fourth and most recent album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, was released in November 2010.
