Here We Are’s strength lies in its consistency – each track is incredibly well-produced, with an edginess that speaks of the band’s musical style without becoming repetitive.

Although the album isn’t as bad arse as a cereal bowl of bullets would have you believe, Mystery Jets have stretched their wings, got some scuff marks on their boots and simply delivered.

For all the unsettling moments, the unusual treatment of instruments and the occasional atonality, each track reaches a point of resolution that fulfils and changes the nature of the piece.

Another remarkably curious and confident effort, and after nearly 30 years in the game – what troopers!

There are no rough edges, everything feels smoothed over to ensure a blissful, lazy experience, with enough going on in the margins to keep you coming back for more.
