American cult pop phenomenon Slayyyter just wrapped her highly anticipated Australian tour, and while she was here, entered the triple j studios for Like A Version.

Taking on the Hole classic, Violet – the album opener to the band’s second studio album Live Through This – Slayyyter successfully delivered the rock and roll feel necessary to perform the track, joined by a tight live band.

Already known for her energetic, expansive vocal range, Slayyyter showed off the heights of her voice, bringing a perfect rasp to the song and delivering the massive chorus with ease.

Check out the cover below.

“The album Live Through This was really impactful for me when I was in high school,” she explained in an interview with triple j. “I would listen to a lot of pop music, but then I would also, from the internet, discover different things and different albums.”

Slayyyter added that when she came across Live Through This, she fell in love with the album and Courtney Love’s voice.

“There’s something emotional about this song,” she continued. “I think it was one of the first songs I tried to teach myself to play on guitar, and I always really just felt like it has this emotional quality and rawness to it.”

While in the Like A Version studio, Slayyyter performed her song Brand New Chanel$. Check out the performances and her interview with triple j below.

Slayyyter just brought her latest album, WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA, to fans in Australia. She broke through the mainstream with her self-titled mixtape, released in 2019. She followed up that release with her 2021 debut album, Troubled Paradise, and 2023’s STARFUCKER. WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA continues her upward trajectory.

The hype around WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA has taken Slayyyter to grand new heights, with a buzzed-about performance at Coachella and appearances at this year’s Gov Ball and Lollapalooza festivals.

During her appearance at Coachella, she made headlines with her “death growl” on YES GODDD, which went viral with her fanbase. So, covering Hole makes perfect sense after that.
