American rockers The Dandy Warhols are heading to our shores once again this spring and summer, today announcing an expansive run across Australia and New Zealand.

Today’s news arrives after The Dandy Warhols were announced to appear on this year’s Meredith Music Festival line-up alongside Dijon, Underscores, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Hiatus Kaiyote, and many others.

The tour commences with a special, one-night-only collaboration with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra at the Odeon Theatre in Hobart on Tuesday, 24 November.

It’s there that the band will transform songs from their expansive catalogue into an immersive orchestral experience before bringing their trademark rock show back for the remainder of the run.

Following their Hobart show, The Dandy Warhols head to New Zealand, performing at Auckland’s Powerstation on Friday, 27 November, and Wellington’s Meow Nui on Saturday, 28 November.

Then, they return to Australia, performing at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Tuesday, 1 December, Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Friday, 4 December, Adelaide’s Thebarton Theatre on Saturday, 5 December, Metropolis Fremantle on Tuesday, 8 December, Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Thursday, 10 December, and conclude the run at Meredith Festival on Friday, 11 December.

Tickets will be available from tomorrow. The Spotify pre-sale opens on Friday, 21 August, at 10 am AEST – use the code DWAUS – followed by the SBM Presents pre-sale on Monday, 24 August, at 10 am AEST, with the code DW27.

The general sale commences on Tuesday, 25 August, at 10 am AEST. Head to the SBM Presents website for more ticketing information.

Lead singer Courtney Taylor-Taylor said of the band’s Australian return and showcasing their orchestral show in the country for the first time, “The Oz tour is right around the corner, and we are getting very pumped about it.

“This one starts in Tasmania with the Symphony there; that will be a mind-expanding trip. Then we hit all our favourite cities, or most of them, including some New Zealand shows.”

He concluded, “Then we end at Meredith festival, which we are told repeatedly is the coolest. There’s going to be a lot of amazing music, food, wine, and even wineries. We have always loved it down under, which is why it’s been The Dandy Warhols’ second home for almost 3 decades.”

For the tour, The Dandy Warhols are celebrating the release of their new covers album, Pin Ups, which dropped earlier this year—featuring their take on songs by The Beatles, The Clash, Bob Dylan, The Cure, Gang of Four, The Cramps, and more.

“Nearly every band we cover on here are friends of ours or artists we have had a meaningful experience with,” Taylor-Taylor explained.

Of course, fans can also expect the hits such as Bohemian Like You, We Used to Be Friends, Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth, and many others.
