There’ll be an audience for this album, no doubt, but even they will struggle to find reason to revisit this more than a handful of times.

Disappointingly under-acknowledged in the wider musical sphere, this record is proof that Dewollf are one of the more interesting bands to spring from the post-White Stripes boom, even if it’s all relatively safe.

This album is without a doubt one of this year’s best punk albums and, considering it isn’t in English, is testament to the band’s songwriting prowess.

Cruise Your Illusion is a damn good cruising soundtrack, laidback and capable of washing over you in what seems like an endless haze.

It’s 45 minutes of reverie and it’s easy to become completely enthralled. A real trip.

What drives the band is their raw execution, which they consistently carry out through the course of the album.

The Tongue’s defining feature is his courage. As a younger man he entered MC battles dressed as Osama Bin Laden.

Between Places is ambitious and epic in scale and could have been a definitive Norwegian album had it not got lost in its own cloudy fjords.
