Sounds By The River celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2019. Ahead of the milestone event, with a roster of acts including Jimmy Barnes, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and more, promoter Duane McDonald outlined the goal of bringing live music to regional locations usually skipped on concert tours.
“Our ethos starting out was to take the type of artists you would see performing at festivals in metro centres, and bring them to the regions,” McDonald explained.
He continued, “Music fans are everywhere, and just because they don’t live in a capital city doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have access to some of the best live acts.

“We are so proud to have grown the festival to encompass dozens of shows – across three different series annually – with bills that include some of the world’s most iconic artists.”
Along with Sounds By The River, last weekend, it was announced that Jimmy Barnes would be headlining One Electric Day in Werribee, Victoria, in November. Also heading to the west of Melbourne are Baby Animals and Chocolate Starfish.
