Josh Cohen's 'Radiohead For Solo Piano: Live AV Set' Confirms 2026 Australian Show

Berlin-based Australian pianist Josh Cohen is bringing a new 'Radiohead For Solo Piano' show to Brisbane in October.

After bringing his Radiohead for Solo Piano II show to Australia back in May, homegrown musician Josh Cohen returns in October with a new show.

On Saturday, 3 October, Radiohead for Solo Piano: Live AV Set will take over QPAC’s Concert Hall in Brisbane. The Berlin-based Australian pianist will once again reimagine the works of Radiohead, but this time as an audiovisual spectacle.

Blending the groundbreaking band’s catalogue of classics with his electronic-inspired improvisation, Cohen will be accompanied by MindBuffer’s Joshua Batty, who will showcase visuals in real time on a custom-built installation.

The fact that Josh Cohen spends his career playing and reimagining Radiohead songs – on stage and in books – is no mean feat, with the band being famously selective about how their music is presented to the world.

Cohen became the first artist to receive the group’s approval to publish official solo piano arrangements of their songs and go on to perform them internationally. With each show, he offers longtime fans and newcomers a fresh perspective on Radiohead’s music.

In 2019, Cohen released his songbook, Radiohead for Solo Piano, which holds a band-approved selection of improvised and freshly arranged songs from the band’s catalogue. Additionally, the songbook features artwork by Radiohead’s longtime artist, Stanley Donwood.

In 2023, Cohen dropped his debut album of solo piano works, which he called Weird Time Signature. A year later, he released his second band-approved songbook, Radiohead for Solo Piano II, which he recently brought to Australia.

Discussing his approach to adapting Radiohead songs for his Solo Piano project, Cohen previously commented, “Over the years, I have subconsciously developed and refined a unique style of playing the piano, which is heavily influenced by my jazz and improvisation training, as well as playing through contemporary songbooks just like this one.

“In a nutshell, this process involves approaching music through a very different lens, as opposed to my classical training, by thinking outside the box and discovering new and creative ways to make my arrangements interesting and engaging.”

He continued, Radiohead’s catalogue lends itself perfectly to this approach, which is why, in my opinion, so many jazz musicians reinterpret their works time and time again.”
