With an interesting and unique performance style, Jonze has no doubt earned himself a few new fans tonight – a job well done.

This band makes it impossible not to smile, dance and discover that talented musicians don’t actually have to take themselves seriously to earn respect.

Probably the most profound moment saw Fanning singing the title track of his latest album, Departures, all about the loss of his brother and father, which really reached out and touched the audience in its harmonious choruses.

By the time it came around to the epic eight-minute-long Bath Time, the band had powered through all 42 minutes of the album to great effect and proven that while their music is certainly unique, nobody does it better than them.

Tonight’s line-up was kind of odd, but Cloud Control is an odd band; ambitious, assured and totally committed to pushing against the outer limits of genre and conventions, creating on stage a perfect storm of these elements and cementing their position as one of Australia’s best live bands.

As Blokes You Can Trust continues to gain traction locally and abroad, it’s clear that the Cosmic Psychos deserve all the recognition that is finally coming their way.

There’s no other Australian rock band quite like Grinspoon, and few acts can match the intensity of their live show.
