Rounding out a rather long set and clearly spent, the band finished with Wildeyes and Carrion to an equally munted but rapturous cheer.

It is easy to see how they’ll own the stadiums they will one day be playing.

If anything, the new offerings from Steal The Light literally stole the show. Truly incredible.

There is still not much in the way of soaring three-part vocal harmonies but given the setting and location, these guys hold the trophy for making simple trebly guitar riffs and four/four drum beats cool – it’s what we came here for and it’s what we got.

Calexico finished up their set at midnight, nearly two hours after taking the stage, leaving their audience reeling from a set steeped in impressive stamina and utter quality.
